This goat type is the smallest goat of Somalia, the females averaging 65 cm in height and 26 kg in weight; it is always long-haired and usually light or dark-brown in colour; the horns and ears are short and erect; despite its small size, it is a good milker, yielding 1-2 kg daily; highly fertile with frequent twins and triplets (Mason and Maule, 1960).

Introduced by Arabian traders from Arabia (Epstein, 1971).
