Main Location: 
The breed is mainly found in parts of Tehran province, in the Garmsar area of Semnan province, in Qom province and in some parts of the central province.
Origin: 
Zandi is believed to have oirginated from the Gray Shiraz breed which was brought to Qom, Markazi, Tehran and Semnan provinces at the time of Zandih Dynasty around 250 years ago.
Habitat: 
Plain steppes with <150 mm rain.
