Special Characteristics:
Maradi goats of Niger are similar to Red Sokoto of Nigeria; they are intermediate in size between the Sahel goat and the Djallonke, and stand at approximately 65 cm at the shoulders, and weighs 20-25 kg. They are known for their skin, which is marketed under the name Sokoto (Epstein, 1971).
